Adverse Weather Conditions Procedures

Dear Parents,

As we approach the winter months, we may face possible closures due to adverse weather conditions.
We will make every effort to keep the school open and will only make the decision to close when it is in the interests of safety such as travelling to and from school, loss of heating or power.
Pre-emptive measures will be in place to make sure the school site is safe which includes gritting of pathways. Advice regarding safety on site will be issued in advance to the school community where possible. In the event of a school closure happening, we have provided an update on the number of ways that you can check on this.

Aberdeenshire Life Education Centre (ALEC) visit

On 19th and 20th September Cluny School will be receiving a visit from ALEC (Aberdeenshire Life Education Centre) to provide sessions for all classes. The ALEC team would like to invite you to a parent information session on Wednesday 29th September at 9.00am – 9.30am. Please let the school office know if you would like to attend.

Children’s experience of ALEC sessions is fun, engaging and memorable. Children meet Harold the Giraffe puppet and friends, have discussions and watch short films covering all aspects of the health and wellbeing curriculum, including physical and mental health, relationships, staying safe online, and substance use (including medicines).

ALEC works in partnership with Aberdeenshire Council and is a delivery partner of Coram Life Education, the leading provider of health and wellbeing education across the UK. ALEC educators are teachers who have undergone additional training to deliver sessions using a best- practice, three strand approach – addressing children’s knowledge, skills, attitudes and values. All of the workshops are aligned with the Curriculum for Excellence.

For anyone who is unable to attend, a pre-recorded version of this information can be found here…https://youtu.be/63M0bcDqVF0
